Who we are?
Girls Who Code at the University of Georgia is a club dedicated to empowering and building community for female and nonbinary students interested in Tech, especially those who are traditionally underrepresented. We provide elementary, middle, and high school students with role models and support on their computer science journeys. We also give our members resources, volunteer opportunities, and a lasting community by matching them with local schools and hosting professional and social events.
What we do?
Volunteering is at the heart of what we do. We partner with schools across Clarke County in Athens and match our members with them, so they can teach students how to code, program robots, and build games and webpages. Members design the curriculum for local elementary, middle, and high school students and volunteer at their schools every week, and we work with multiple partner schools and community partners every year.

Get Involved
Join Girls Who Code at UGA as a general member, a facilitator, or both. Facilitators are automatically admitted as general members too.
Facilitator Application
Teach and mentor elementary, middle, and high school students in Clarke County. Facilitators lead weekly coding and tech lessons at our partner schools and are automatically admitted as general members. We accept new facilitators every semester, so if you miss one cycle you can apply in the next. Applications for Spring 2027 open late December/early January.

Who Can Join?
Graduate and undergraduate students of all majors are welcome! We are a community dedicated to empowering underepresented, female and nonbinary, students in Tech.
Membership Types?
General Members access networking events and social opportunities. Facilitators are selected to teach coding lessons and mentor students, while receiving all member benefits.
Time Commitment?
General Members can commit as much or as little time as they wish. Facilitators are required to volunteer every week at their chosen times.
Featured Events?
We host social and professional development events for all members. For facilitators, we connect them with younger students who they teach and mentor professionally.
Any Club Dues?
No. Girls Who Code at UGA does not collect any membership dues from our students.
Event Format?
Meetings and events are hosted in all formats—in-person, virtual, and hybrid—though the majority of our sessions are held in-person on campus.
Officer Elections?
Incoming officers are selected by the outgoing officers based on measurable dedication to the club, such as participation in events and volunteering efforts.
